Aventurine and copper red glazes.<\/p>\n
The interaction of these very different glazes has created a dramatic tension as the iron crystalline glaze flows into the copper red. Iron silicate crystals dominate on the neck giving way to a glassy amber shoulder. Clouds of boron blue mark the transition to the deep red body.<\/p>\n
The copper red here is extremely dark. It takes the power of the noon sun and two flashguns to bring out the deep tones of blood red. The surface has a strong orange peel texture.<\/p>\n
