CF2 Closeups

CF2 has produced some particularly interesting closeup details. The piece itself can be seen at a more typical viewing distance here. I photographed this piece in the summer of 2022 on a day that featured dramatic changes of weather.

A closeup of the fringe of one of the primary crystals.

Greater magnification shows the primary crystals to contain tiny secondaries with addition groups of larger ones with a trigonal symmetry.

Another detail of the primary crystal fringe shows subtle colour changes that result from varying the kiln temperature during the crystal growing stage.
