Description
Iron aventurine and pale green and tan crystalline glazes.
The sparkling aventurine glaze on the neck of this piece has formed a complex interaction with the zinc silicate glaze below. The ground is pale cream coloured with a dusting of tiny secondary crystals. The primary crystals are vivid green with poweful growth rings.
Photographed in woodland at Hardcastle Crags on a gloomy wet day in December, the light here is almost entirely from flash. The feeble sunlight was just sufficient to show a ghostly impression of the woodland backdrop.
