Description
Two aspects of the versatile role of iron are shown on this piece. Iron red on the neck and iron gold on the body – changes that occur in the different chemistries of the glazes.
The primary crystals are a vivid gold with holographic structure and a pronounced charcoal-grey outer fringe. The ground is complex with glassy areas changing from tan on the shoulder to deep amber with hints of purple near the foot and all set with a complex array of small secondary crystals.
