CF7

Description

This piece combines my iron aventurine glaze on the top with a zinc silicate glaze on the body. The glaze is complex and the result of having been fired three times. After each of the first two glaze firings the result was not so good. The colours are complex, the primary crystals contain blues, greens and tans that vary as the lighting changes. I photographed this piece in bright sunlight in several locations in the Calder Valley.

A long exposure to give a silky texture to the water. Paul Clough.
Mossy rock near the bottom of Ratten Clough.

The additional heat treatment from three glaze firings has altered the porcelain body so that the crystalline glaze has crazed creating an unusual crackle pattern in both the ground and the primary crystals.
