CLH

CLH. On a gritstone boulder, Gorple Moor close to the Lancashire/Yorkshire border.

Description

Iron aventurine and zinc silicate glazes with one of my custom porcelain formulations combine to produce a dynamic interaction. The regularity of the pattern formed by the aventurine glaze running down the shoulder is produced entirely in the glaze firing, it is applied as a uniform coating. Like the formation of the zinc silicate crystals it is an example of self-organization, in this case happening at a length scale that we can see, rather than on the scale of individual atoms with the crystals.
