CNP

Description

Dark blue crystalline glaze.

Primary crystals are isolated with tones varying from burgundy to deep blue. The ground is especially complex with several types of secondary. The base is tan set with tiny silver crystals appearing between the larger blue flower-like types.

This piece was hidden at the back of my storage shelves, forgotton since it came out of the kiln. It is the last example of this glaze that I have.

Closeup Images

Many of my crystalline glazes feature prominent secondary crystals. CNP has exceptional secondary formation. High magnification yeilds details that the eye cannot see. These images are both beautiful and instructive, yeilding valuable information about the formation process. The images here were taken with a Laowa 25mm f2.8 2.5-5X ultra-macro lens mounted on a full frame SLR. Each image is a composite of many individual images. This is needed to get the necessary depth of field for overall sharpness. The images here use between 20 and 40 individual frames.
