Description
The porcelain body is made from a very unusual recipe incorporating clay that I collected from the local moorland. The clay is ancient, being formed during the Westphalian stage of the Carboniferous period, a little over 300 million years ago. It is a type known as a ‘seatearth’. A coal seam occurs immediately above it, the clay is the remains of the soil in which the coal forming plants grew.
