Description

Aventurine and copper red glazes.

The interaction of these very different glazes has created a dramatic tension as the iron crystalline glaze flows into the copper red. Iron silicate crystals dominate on the neck giving way to a glassy amber shoulder. Clouds of boron blue mark the transition to the deep red body.

The copper red here is extremely dark. It takes the power of the noon sun and two flashguns to bring out the deep tones of blood red. The surface has a strong orange peel texture.
