Description
Iron khaki and golden zinc silicate glazes.
Golden zinc silicate glaze with large vivid primaries featuring darker centres. The ground is a complex array of small crystals floating on a glassy background with tones from pale tan through to deep amber. Set off with iron khaki on the neck.
On the crags overlooking the city of Edinburgh, not far from the crowds, the unending sound of bagpipes and the souvenir shops, can be found a small quarry. It was here in the eighteenth century that pioneer of geology, James Hutton, added another small piece to our understanding of our place in the universe. I photographed this piece against the backdrop of Hutton’s Section.
