Description
Iron red and my pale green and tan crystalline glaze. The variation of the iron red on the neck is a new formulation based on a shale that outcrops close to my workshop. It is known as the ‘Accrington mudstone formation’, the same rock type that is the basis of the world-famous Accrington brick.
The crystalline glaze features vivid pale green primaries set on a complex ground that varies from pink on the shoulder to russet near the foot. This is one of the glazes that I contributed to Diane Creber’s recently published book ‘exploring crystalline glazes’.
